An integral member of Leicester City’s title success last season has revealed Arsenal players’ celebratory photos, following their 2-1 defeat at the Emirates in mid-February spurred them on.

Jonathan Norcroft, author of Leicester City’s remarkable 2015-16 Premier League crown called: ‘Fearless: The Amazing Underdog of Leicester City, the Greatest Miracle in Sports History’, recounts the feelings of the Foxes players’ reactions after that loss to Arsenal, and the subsequent photos posted by Arsenal players.

Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil were the main culprits, taking to their Instagram pages and posting photos with their fellow teammates after their dramatic win thanks to Danny Welbeck’s injury-time header.

One player who took offence to the photos and said the squad used them as a source of motivation was centre-back Robert Huth.

“For me the key point was when we lost to Arsenal,” the 32-year-old German said.

“Everyone was celebrating, they were doing selfies. Even though we were still top. A few of the lads stuck a few [of Arsenal’s] pictures up and it got the blood boiling. It gave us an extra yard in the next few games.”

Leicester collected a possible 27 from 33 points available since that day to lift the Premier League trophy and complete one of the great sporting triumphs of all-time.
