Eugene Galekovic – Goalkeeper – Adelaide United

Galekovic made his return from injury as his side grabbed a 4-1 win away from home against the Brisbane Roar in the opening game of the weekend. The captain’s return was a major boost for the Reds as they continued their impressive run of form over the past few weeks. Galekovic bought a calmness to the Adelaide side which should hold them in good stead for the rest of the season.

Scott Jamieson – Right-back – Western Sydney Wanderers

The full-back produced arguably his best performance of the season in a man of the match display as his side spoiled the Luis Garcia party in Gosford. Jamieson kept the dangerous Fabio Ferreira quiet for most of the game, causing trouble for the opposition defence at the other end. His constant overlapping runs made him a major threat going forward. He is of course out of position here; his best work is done on the opposite flank.

Iacopo La Rocca – Centre-back – Adelaide United

La Rocca stood out for his side as they grabbed three points at Suncorp Stadium in the victory against the Brisbane Roar on Friday night. The 31-year-old’s strength was key to his play in the win as he and fellow defender Dylan McGowan took advantage of a depleted Brisbane attack missing Olyroos Jamie Maclaren and Brandon Borello.

Alex Grant – Centre-back – Perth Glory

The youngster produced a solid performance in the 6-1 rout of the Newcastle Jets just a day after celebrating his 21st birthday. The Glory defender was calm and composed as he looked to play the ball out from the back on numerous occasions in the comfortable victory against a Jets team lacking confidence. He grabbed a goal to help celebrate his birthday.

Michael Zullo – Left-back – Melbourne City

Despite working his way back to full fitness, the Socceroo produced his best performance in a City shirt as his side won 3-1 at home to the Wellington Phoenix. Zullo made a nuisance of himself as he continued to drive forward from the wing-back position. His cross which heralded Harry Novillo’s goal was delightful and the highlight of his performance.

Nebojsa Marinkovic – Centre-midfield – Perth Glory

The Serbian midfielder was at his dangerous best at the heart of the Glory midfield as they demolished the Jets 6-1 away from home on Saturday. The 29-year-old produced arguably his best performance of the season, a game he will be hoping kick-starts the second half of his season. Marinkovic produced some superb set pieces throughout the match.

Mitch Nichols – Centre-midfield- Western Sydney Wanderers

Nichols continued his fine form this season with another superb display in the middle of the park for the ladder leaders. The Socceroo was able to find too much room in the heart of midfield against the Mariners, enabling him to control the tempo of the game throughout.  The former Brisbane Roar man found himself in a number of dangerous positions throughout the match and that caused problems for the home side.

Aaron Mooy – Centre-midfield- Melbourne City

It is very hard to argue against this man being the best player in the competition after yet another strong performance in his side’s victory over the Wellington Phoenix. Mooy found himself dictating the play for most of the match as he continued to find space throughout the 90 minutes. The Socceroo continues to produce performances which could earn him a move overseas at the end of the season.

Diego Castro – Right-wing – Perth Glory

After a scintillating performance against the Jets, Perth coach Kenny Lowe called Castro the best player in the A-League, and if the Spaniard continues to perform at this level it is hard to argue he is not one of the top players in the league. Castro grabbed himself a brace in the victory to cap off his performance.

Harry Novillo – Left-wing – Melbourne City

The Frenchman continues to deliver. Once again, he did not let his side down. The former France youth international grabbed two more goals to take him level as the second leading goalscorer for City alongside Mooy. Novillo can count himself unlucky to have not grabbed a couple of assists along the way.

Chris Harold – Striker – Perth Glory

The Glory front man grabbed a double as his side completely dominated the Newcastle Jets in a 6-1 demolition. Harold’s pace proved the danger for the Jets who were reduced to 10 men when skipper Nigel Boogaard was sent off. The 23-year-old will be hoping this performance is a catalyst to earning some consistent first team football.
