Daniel Margush – Goalkeeper – Adelaide United

Making his debut for the home side, the youngster held his own in a comfortable victory for Adelaide as they continued their mid-season revival. Margush handled most of the challenges thrown his way comfortably throughout the match in an impressive debut. The 18-year-old was unable to do anything with former Reds Fabio Ferreira’s equaliser.

Stefan Nigro – Right-back- Melbourne Victory

Thrown into the heat of the battle against the ladder leaders for his senior team debut and the youngster repaid coach Kevin Muscat’s faith in the young defender. Nigro kept perhaps one of the greatest ever A-League players in Thomas Broich quiet as the Victory romped to a 4-0 win with several players absent.

Jacques Faty – Centre-back – Sydney FC

Faty’s experience shone through when it was most needed, a vital derby against Western Sydney Wanderers. The central defender put his side ahead in the first half before Dario Vidosic levelled the match, with Shane Smeltz scoring the winner in second half injury time. The 31-year-old was dominant in defence, sniffing out a number of Wanderers attacks.

Matt Jurman – Centre-back – Sydney FC

Jurman joins his team mate in the team of the week following a solid outing in the Sydney Derby. The 26-year-old perfectly complimented his partner in defence, cutting out numerous waves of Wanderers attacks throughout the match. The former Australian under-23 international had an impact at both ends of the pitch as he grabbed himself an assist as Shane Smeltz smashed home the winner to claim a 2-1 win at Pirtek Stadium.

Lachlan Jackson – Left-back – Newcastle Jets

Jackson found himself outside of his comfort zone, moved to the full-back position in his side’s 3-1 win over the Wellington Phoenix. The former Brisbane Roar youth product did not let his side down with a composed performance out wide. The 20-year-old kept the dangerous Roly Bonevacia quiet before the Nix midfielder was moved centrally.

Gui Finkler – Central-midfield – Melbourne Victory

The Brazillian found himself at the heart of numerous attacks on Friday night as the reigning champions thumped the ladder-leading Brisbane Roar 4-0. Finkler found time and space throughout the match which enabled him to be at his dangerous best in his side’s win. The highlight of his performance was a delicate cross for Kosta Barbarouses to head home.

Aaron Mooy – Central-midfield – Melbourne City

The Socceroo produced yet another terrific performance for City as they drew 2-2 with Perth Glory away from home on Saturday evening. The 25-year-old grabbed himself yet another assist as he continues to demonstrate why he is arguably the best playmaker in the league. Mooy grabbed yet another goal to cap off his performance and continue to his surge to a likely Johnny Warren medal.

James Jeggo – Central-midfield- Adelaide United

The former Melbourne Victory player produced another solid performance in the centre of the park for the Reds as they claimed a 3-1 win against the Central Coast Mariners. The 23-year-old demonstrated his full passing range, constantly finding his team mates and putting them in dangerous positions. Jeggo found himself over a number of set pieces and did not let his team down with some excellent deliveries.

Kosta Barbarouses – Right-wing – Melbourne Victory

The New Zealand international has been growing in confidence in the past few weeks and this performance capped off his recent purple patch. Barbarouses looked dangerous every time he had the ball at his feet whether he was running down the wings or looking to cut inside. The 25-year-old grabbed himself a brace, a reward for a superb performance.

Craig Goodwin – Left-wing – Adelaide United

Quite arguably the man of the match in Adelaide’s 3-1 win over the Mariners on Saturday afternoon as part of the A-League’s triple header. Goodwin worked hard for his side throughout the match, constantly getting forward and helping out on the defensive end. His hard work was rewarded with a well taken goal before the winger turned provider.

Diego Castro – Striker – Perth Glory

The marquee man for the Glory got his side back into the game after they went behind with a superb free kick in the dying stages of the opening half before City immediately regained the lead two minutes into the second. Castro was very creative throughout the match as the Glory came from behind twice to earn themselves a 2-2 draw.
