Perth Glory climb within one point of the A-League top six after a 6-3 thumping of an out-of-sorts Brisbane Roar in a frenetic match at NIB Stadium on Saturday night.

The Glory took an early lead through Andy Keogh, before falling behind to goals from Jamie Maclaren and a Dimitri Petratos penalty before the half hour.

Chris Harold levelled the match shortly after, only for Jade North to head his side back into the lead almost immediately. Nebojsa Marinkovic levelled it up again with a superb long-range free-kick before defender Shane Lowry ensured his side would go to the break with the lead with a thumping header.

Diego Castro netted from the spot four minutes after the restart and the scoring was rounded out by club captain Richard Garcia, four minutes from time to round out a pulsating encounter in the west.

The result sees Perth climb within striking distance of Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC with seven matches remaining.

Perth Glory

Ante Covic – 5.5: Not too much he could have done about the three goals he conceded. Largely untroubled for the majority of the night.

Josh Risdon – 7: Solid performance from the skipper. Provided an assist and was a constant threat down the left flank.

Alex Grant – 5.5: Not a bad performance, but will be disappointed to have leaked three goals.

Shane Lowry – 6: Satisfactory shift in defence, however his most telling contribution was a goal just before half-time which proved to be crucial.

Aryn Williams – 4.5: Average performance from the Glory right-back. Clumsily gave Brisbane the lead in the first half and poorly executed the final cross/shot from the flank on more than one occasion.

Krisztián Vadócz– 6.5: Solid, without being spectacular.

Gyorgy Sandor – 6.5: Went under the radar again, but worked very well with Vadocz in the engine room. A very important cog in the Perth machine.

Nebojsa Marinkovic – 7: Contributed little from open play, but created havoc with his deadly set pieces, contributing a goal and an assist.

Chris Harold – 6.5: A solid shift from the in-form attacker, finding himself on the scoresheet yet again.

Andy Keogh – 8: Another good performance from the number nine, chipping in with a goal and an assist. It’s no coincidence that since his return that Glory have shot up the ladder.

Diego Castro – 8.5: Linked up very well with Keogh again, while providing a goal and an assist. Another classy performance from the former La Liga player.

Substitutes

Kosta Petratos – N/A: Only on the park a matter of minutes.

Richard Garcia – N/A: Played just six minutes, but added the sixth goal.

How Twitter reacted to Perth Glory’s 6-3 win over Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar

Michael Theo – 6: Apart from the Marinkovic free kick, not much he could have done about the goals he conceded. Still managed to make 3 or 4 quality stops to save his side from an even more humiliating night.

Jack Hingert – 4: Had a torrid time against a quality front three. Was forced into an error for the first goal.

James Donachie – 4: An anonymous performance from the centre-back.

Jade North – 5: Bad day at the office defensively, however managed to put his side ahead in the first half.

Shane Stefanutto – 4: Not as influential as we’re used to, offered very little going forward in comparison with his usual attacking forays.

Corona – 5: Did not exert his usual control over the game. Apart from providing an assist from a corner, his set pieces were generally poor.

Dimitri Petratos – 4.5: Sharp at times in the first half, but faded out as the game went on.

Matt McKay– 5: Provided an assist, but otherwise contributed little.

Brandon Borrello – 4: Very little impact on the match, contributed little in a match dominated by attackers.

Jamie Maclaren – 6.5: Red hot in the first half with a goal and an assist but was kept quiet in the second half.

Thomas Broich – 4.5: Showed flashes of his brilliant best, but faded in and out of the match when his team needed a second half attacking spark.

Substitutes

Daniel Bowles – 3: A very poor showing from the usually reliable defender. Was torn to pieces by Risdon and was lucky not to receive a second booking late on.

Steven Lustica – 3: Zero impact after coming on to replace Maclaren.

Henrique – 3.5: Like his fellow substitutes, had little to no impact on the outcome of the match.
