It was a stellar Real Madrid side that easily overcame a second rate Eibar side 3-0 at the Estadio Santiago Bernebau.

Real moved within two points of first position following a much improved performance for the side which saw Cristiano Ronaldo open the scoring from a free kick.

The Los Blancos were missing several regular starters due to injury and suspension which forced coach Carlo Ancelotti to re-think the starting eleven. Javier Hernandez and Jese Rodriguez started in attack while Asier Illaramendi and Isco began in the midfield with both Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez suspended. Indeed it was also a rare starting occasion for goalkeeper Keylor Navas whom was essentially another spectator of the match due to the dominance of the home side.

Eibar attempted to re-group and track back but it was only a matter of time before the Galacticos scored again after three successive shots striking the post. It was the Mexican international Hernandez who added to the scoreboard with a header around the 30 minute mark.

Real eased their way through the second term with Jese Rodriguez sealing the victory via a strike from the edge of the area only eight minutes before the full-time whistle.

Outside90 Real Madrid correspondent Roanna Sanelli breaks down the individual performances from both ends of the pitch.

Real Madrid

Keylor Navas – 5: Poor Navas. It was one of the few times the goalkeeper has started for the side and was made to watch the match from the goals due to his team’s dominance. Did make a few saves.

Alvaro Arbeloa – 6.5: Provided the cross for Hernandez’s goal and was an ever-present figure in attack and defence as he made several runs, plays and provided crosses from the flanks.

Sergio Ramos – 6: Not much to really do in defence for the Spaniard and hence came forward on several occasions where he nearly scored via a diving header.

Marcelo – 6: As usual the Brazilian international made several runs down the flank and was continually threatening the Eibar defence. However, his crosses into the goal square were far from accurate.

Raphael Varane – 5: The defender had little to defend on the left yet was ready when needed.

Isco – 7: The Spaniard improves with match play and this fixture was no exception. He maintained possession in the midfield for Real and was a key provider for the attacking trio. He even tested Irureta on a few occasions.

Luka Modric – 7.5: As always the Croatian is key to the centre of midfield and was continually involved in Real’s build-up play. Very difficult to contain the stellar midfielder.

Asier Illaramendi – 6.5: The Spaniard was another vital player in the midfield and made the most of his rare start. He was vital on the counter-attack and made pin-point passes.

Jese Rodriguez – 6: Was a silent achiever throughout the match. He made a few excellent crosses into the area and his goal sealed the victory for the side.

Javier Hernandez – 7.5: The Mexican international made the most of a rare start for Madrid. He scored the second goal and was a threat for the entire match as he had several other chances to add to the Los Blancos’ lead.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 7: It was a spectacular performance from Ronaldo, which onlookers have become accustomed to seeing. He was confident in attack and scored the first goal from a free kick, his first for the La Liga season.

Substitutes

Nacho – 5: The Spaniard came onto the pitch with an extreme sense of awareness and was focussed at all times. Replaced Marcelo.

Pepe – 5.5: In usual Pepe style he aided the defence by making several clean tackles and set up another near goal for Hernandez.

Lucas Silva – 5.5: Played only for 30 minutes but seemed to have properly transitioned to the Real playing style and made a few key runs.

Eibar

Xabi Irureta – 4.5: Continually tested throughout the match with very little respite. Lacking support from his defence, but did make an important few saves to keep the score line at a decent margin.

Lillo Castellano – 4: Forced to do defend on his own with little help from his fellow team mates. Afforded too much space to the opposition.

Raul Navas – 4.5: Defended Hernandez well and provided support in attack.

Didac Vila – 3: Did not offer anything in attack and could not contain the power of Arbeloa.

Dani Garcia – 3: Poor in defence and poor passing skills.

Añibarro – 4: Managed to make a few key tackles but lacked the skills and power to keep track of the Real attack.

Saul Berjon – 4: Good in tracking back into defence but could not do anything moving forward. Hence was substituted at the break.

Javi Lara – 5: Made good deliveries from set pieces and was the most creative in attack.

Borja – 5: Attempted to limit the influence of Modric and was key when tracking back to defend.

Ander Capa – 4.5: Made positive runs into the attack and created a few decent balls into the goal square yet was unable to track back and aid his side in defence.

Manu Del Moral – 3.5: Could not really play at his best due to the lack of service yet had a few shots on goal.

Substitutes

Derek Boateng- N/A: A waste of a substitution. His only real influence on the game was a tackle on Ronaldo which earnt him a yellow card.

Mikel Arruabarrena – 4: Had the desire to come forward but did not threaten the Madridista defence.

Federico Piovaccari – 4: The Italian international had the best chance of the night yet slipped at the vital moment.
